INVESTIGATING FEMINICIDAL VIOLENCE: A LABOR OF FEMINIST ARCHEOLOGICAL EXCAVATION

In this presentation we will analyze the importance of investigating feminicidal violence as a constant and slow labor of archaeological excavation to focus on the question of how violence sediments itself, not only in the territories we inhabit, but under our own skin. We will “dig” to historicize feminicide through an analysis of each stratification of the social and political elements that have remained the same as well as those that underwent a profound transformation from the brutal level of violence that profoundly changed Mexico, particularly from 2006 to date. Through this “excavation” we will attempt to understand the history of feminicide in Mexico: who is responsible, how can this violence take place and under what conditions? We will reflect on the present to understand the social dynamics that encourage and favor the (re) production of violence.
